I am a passionate woven textile designer based in Northamptonshire, currently in my final year at De Montfort University studying a Textile Design BA Hons degree, set to graduate this summer (2020). The technical side of textiles is where my main interest lies, focusing on dyeing processes and textile testing. My final major project focused on the development of a more sustainable and eco-friendly dyeing process for woven fabrics. Creating a woven collection that utilises the properties of many fibre types, only revealing the final design once dyed as they are woven on an undyed warp. My in-depth knowledge about fibres and their properties played a key role in this experimentation.
I have strong practical experience using dobby and jacquard looms, allowing me to create a multitude of different fabrics. This is supported by my wealth of technical knowledge in knitted hosiery and industry testing standards that was gained through my placement year. I strive for innovation in all aspects of textiles, as a woven specialist I spend time experimenting with my warp and creating weave structures that reflect my design identity.
